History

(A brief history of the guild, written by Leax)

A long time ago, our server, Cazic-Thule, had a calendar systemto divide up days in the planes and attempts on the two dragons of the time,Lord Nagafen and Lady Vox. In order to schedule a day or two in the planes or adragon raid, you had to meet certain requirements, such as a certain number ofplanes capable (level 46+) people, etc. Naturally, there were a lot of smallguilds that could not meet these requirements, and, as such, were barred fromgoing to the planes or raiding dragons. In order to remedy this situation, aguy named Talamian, who was at the time the guildleader of a guild called FirstDefenders, got together with a bunch of other small guilds (Hand of Chaos, TheTaken, Clan Axepeak, The Protectorate, Pathfinders, The Elder Conclave, and DarkthornConspiracy) to form the Dragon Alliance. This Alliance was made up of smallguilds and enabled them to raid in the planes and kill dragons. Well, eventually, the calendar system self destructed, but the Alliance did notdisband, but rather, stuck around, and continued to grow, and we are stillaround today. Guilds have come and gone, and at the moment, the guilds we haveare First Defenders, Hand of Chaos, Sacred Silver Blades, An Rach, Revolution'sEdge, The Protectorate, Pathfinders, Knights of Round Table, and Clan Axepeak. We are led by a council of sorts of guild representatives. Each guild isallowed two guild reps, one main and one alternate. Guild reps have a specialprivate forum where they discuss various leadership-type issues, and, every sooften, there is a guild rep meeting on the EverQuest chat server whereimportant issues are brought up, discussed, and voted on.

The Alliance, when it was first formed, also set up a system to distributeloot. We call it EPN (Events Participation Number). Whenever you show up at araid, and stay for at least 2 hours or until the end of the raid, you earn EPNpoints. Normal raids are two points, and impetu raids on MoOs (Mobs ofOpportunity) will earn you one point. A guild rep at the raid will take attendance, and there is a guild rep assigned with updating the roster, which shows EPNtotals (Right now it is Goldana). When a piece of loot drops, anyone who canand will use the loot sends a tell to the person doing loot (usually Goldana orGenkismet). The person doing loot will check the roster to see who has thehighest EPN total and who has not looted that day, and that person will beawarded the item (if you have already looted, you may not loot again untileveryone of the same class or archetype has looted at least once). When youreceive the item, your EPN total will be lowed a few points, depending on theitem.

How does all this pertain to Revolution's Edge? Well, RE was born and bred fromthe Alliance. A very long time ago, communication between the many guilds ofthe Alliance was quite difficult in the event of a Corpse Recovery, or if arare spawn was up, or even between leaders during a raid. In order to try andremedy this, The Alliance formed a guild called Revolution's Edge (It was Leaxwho actually created it, but he turned over guild leadership to Genkismet). This guild was simply a chat channel for those in the Alliance who wished totake a more active role. Anyone in any Alliance guild over level 46 could guildRevolution's Edge, and everyone was free to come and go between RE and theirregular guild as they pleased. As time went on, Revolution's Edge gained areputation as having most of the higher level characters in the Alliance, aswell as being the central leadership guild for raids.

With the introduction of chat channels, the fundamental reason for theexistence of Revolution's Edge was bypassed, since communication betweenmultiple guilds was better achieved through the new chat channels. Since manypeople had come to call RE home, we decided it was time to make ourselves areal Alliance guild. And that is how we currently stand. We are an Allianceguild, formed of the Alliance, we still hold the ties that bind us theAlliance, and the Alliance is our first priority. But now that we are our ownguild, not an instrument of the Alliance, we can do more in house raids andrecruitment.
